ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

►Collaborated with other disciplines to create prototypes that clearly articulated the game’s vision.

►Scripted dynamic and challenging combat systems and prototyped an AI behavior systems.

Iron Planet is a third-person shooter that takes place on Mars. The player takes the role of a detective that is tasked with stealing Soviet secrets for the US.

My goal in this game was to make the player feel isolated and vulnerable to attacks from anywhere. With that in mind, I need a way to prototype several level variations quickly. The first script I created was to randomly generate buildings and, other large objects in different variations. The first two images on the slideshow are images from this stage of development. Once I was happy with an arrangement my art team was able to swap placeholder art for the final art. The next step was to add vertically to the level. This was done by adding stairs and bridges that allowed the player and bots to travel high above the level. The third fourth and fifth images are from this stage. The final stage of development was scripting gameplay and, making the level look like a city with people living in it. The sixth and seventh images are how the level looked when it was finished.

This is how the A.I. bots were set up. The green cone show how far the bots can see. If the play is seen the bot would chase the player. If the player is inside of the large rectangle the bot would shoot at the player.  Both the bots and the player have a hitbox around their bodies. If a bullet hits the hitbox health would be deducted.
